The council have been tidying up the burn at the back of Levenhowe Road and making the culvert wider for any excess flow of water to pass over if required during heavy rain. The channel for the culvert has been increased, so a larger volume of water can run over the culvert and back into the burn on the other side.
They have also cleared up the vegetation on the way up to Dalvait Bridge from the River Leven. Work is ongoing today (Thursday, 30th November), and with the water level in the burn shallow, they have been able to access all vegetation and cut this back to nothing in larger areas. This will stop any branches from falling into the burn and blocking the culvert and excess leaves from falling next year into the burn.
